HPI Research in Action!

HPI Research Prompted ACR to Urge Federal Action on Lung Cancer Screening, with the College formally calling on the HHS Secretary to launch a national public health campaign promoting annual lung cancer screening and shared decision making after an HPI study showed significantly improved long-term screening adherence.

HPI Study Directly Informed New AMA Policy on Shared Decision Making for Lung Cancer Screening, providing the evidence base for adoption of AMA Resolution 932, which calls for expanded physician education and training to support effective shared decision making and documentation for LDCT screening in high-risk populations.


The HPI Achieved its Best-Ever Earned-Media in 2025
