Eric Christensen, PhD, Wins 2025 Minnies Award for Most Influential Radiology Researcher

We’re proud to announce that Eric Christensen, PhD, Research Director at the Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute, has been named the 2025 Minnies winner for Most Influential Radiology Researcher—a top honor from AuntMinnie.com recognizing leadership and impact in the field of radiology.
Dr. Christensen brings a unique perspective to radiology through his background in health economics. “Economic incentives influence people whether they’re aware of them or not,” he explains. Since joining the Neiman Institute in 2021, he has led research that explores how financial and policy structures shape clinical behavior, access to care, and imaging utilization.
His work has tackled some of the most pressing challenges in radiology, including:
• Radiology workforce trends, including burnout and attrition
• Economic drivers of disparities in access to advanced imaging technologies
• Non-radiologist interpretation of imaging
• Medicare budget neutrality and reimbursement policy impact
• Procedural complexity in interventional radiology
Dr. Christensen’s research has been cited in national policy discussions, by AMA in a resolution for low dose CT (LDCT) to support data-driven advocacy and in CMS efforts to expand coverage for CT colonography (CTC) and featured in AuntMinnie’s coverage of the top threats to radiology. His studies continue to inform efforts by medical societies, policymakers, and healthcare leaders to address systemic challenges and improve patient care.
We congratulate Dr. Christensen on this well-deserved recognition and celebrate the impact of his work in shaping the future of radiology.
